Rio de Janeiro 5 Day Carnival Tour (Can be extended to 10 or more days)
Day 1 (Saturday ): Upon arrival in Rio, you will be met and transferred to your apartment in the neighborhood of Ipanema. Ipanema is one of the best neighborhoods to stay in Rio. Its large array of restaurants, high class shopping, beautiful beach and proximity to the Lagoon, makes Ipanema be chosen by residents and tourists as one of Rio’s top places to hang out in.
This afternoon is at leisure to rest or to do some exploring on your own.
Lunch/ Dinner will be at a Churrascaria, a traditional Brazilian Barbecue Feast. This experience is for sure a one of a kind and you will be delighted with Brazilian cuisine.
In the evening walk down to Copacabana’s Square where the Orquestra Flor do Sereno will perform their yearly Carnival Ball.
Day 2 ( Sunday ): Carnival Sunday is the favorite day for most of cariocas, in downtown Rio in historical square Praca XV, the Rio bloco Cordão do Boitata gives their Carnival performance. A day where thousands of participants parade down the streets accompanying this street group to join them in the show at 10 am in XV Square.
This is one of the most awaited for Street Balls in Rio city. Young, old, traditional and modern Rio citizens partake in costumes in this famous street ball. Much fun, dance and music for all.
At night, Rio’s famous Carnival Parade awaits you for a one in a lifetime experience. This is the party of the world! Nothing like it on the globe. The luxury, music, dance, joy and soul of Brazilian Carnival are translated in this amazing life experience.
Day 3 ( Monday ): Rest all you need and in the afternoon, just 5 minutes away on Ipanema beach, you’ll have the opportunity of watching the Rio Maracatu parade. With Brazilian Northeastern Drumming and dancing, this unique parade will carry all of the beach spectators to the end of Ipanema beach for a Carnival Monday show. A special treat for your eyes and ears, contrasting with colors and folkloric dancing and drumming, this is another favorite of Rio’s street events.
Day 4 ( Tuesday ): This day we have a couple of options for our special guests. Santa Teresa, an old neighborhood up in the mountains of Rio city, marked by its cobblestone streets, delightful cuisine and artistic scene. There are street Carnival parades, with a spectrum of costumes, colors and musical spectacles. Another option is checking out the Cordao do Bola Preta Street Carnival downtown Rio, one of the most traditional groups, parading with its tight jazzy band bringing along the town together in the festivities. A special Brazilian lunch is included in this day.
Day 5 ( Wednesday ): Begin your last day visiting the Christ Statue at Corcovado Mountain, arriving by cog train through the lush Atlantic rainforest. From the top of the city, indulge your eyes and understand why Rio de Janeiro is called “the Wonderful City”. The view of the city nestled within the Tijuca Forest is breathtaking and a postcard invitation from any of its 360 angles.
End the afternoon for a light and refreshing meal at one of Brazil’s most recognized gourmet bakery salad joint Confeitaria Colombo. This scrumptious delicacy restaurant is located at Forte de Copacabana, an old city fort with a breathtaking view of Copacabana beach. A special goodbye to this beautiful town for your return home.
